About the Role we are seeking a skilled and experienced Underground Fitter to join our clients mining operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime As an essential member of the maintenance team the Underground Fitter will ensure that all machinery and equipment are in top working condition to support the mining operation Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on underground mining equipment including drilling machines loaders haul trucks and conveyors Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues in equipment machinery and systems Carry out installations modifications and improvements to equipment as required Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with safety standards Assist in the planning and execution of shutdowns overhauls and major equipment repairs Maintain accurate records of work completed parts used and equipment performance work in collaboration with the maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production Adhere to all safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience as a fitter with at least 2 years in an underground mining environment Recognized fitter trade qualification or equivalent Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with a variety of mining equipment drills trucks conveyors etc Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently Strong commitment to safety quality and operational efficiency physically fit and able to work in challenging underground conditions
